The ND FFA Foundation is committed to increasing agricultural literacy through meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities. Through a partnership with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, the Ag in the Classroom Mini Grant Program provides funding for projects that connect students with agriculture in creative and impactful ways. This year, members of the Mohall FFA Chapter combined service and agricultural safety by assembling Tractor Cab Kits to support local farmers and ranchers during the busy spring planting season.
Program: Mohall FFA Tractor Cab Kit Project

Impact: 100 Tractor Cab Kits distributed throughout the community
Purpose: To promote farm safety while recognizing and supporting the local producers who help feed and fuel our communities.
Instead of learning about agriculture from a textbook, Mohall FFA members put their knowledge into action by giving back to the people who make agriculture possible. During their April FFA meeting, approximately 30 chapter members worked together to assemble 100 Tractor Cab Kits filled with useful items to help farmers and ranchers stay safe and prepared during long days in the field.
Each kit included snacks, water, first-aid supplies, and a handwritten thank-you note recognizing the dedication and hard work of local producers. While simple, the kits served as an important reminder to take time for personal safety and well-being during one of the busiest times of the year.
After assembling the kits, FFA members partnered with local implement dealerships and businesses in Mohall, Lansford, and Sherwood to make them available to producers throughout the community. Members also helped deliver the kits and plan to follow up with local businesses to gather feedback and explore ideas for future improvements.
Beyond providing practical resources, the project gave students the opportunity to see the importance of supporting the agricultural community beyond the classroom. Working together to organize, package, and distribute the kits helped members strengthen their teamwork and leadership skills while recognizing the commitment of the farmers and ranchers who support their local communities every day.
The project also generated awareness through social media, helping share the message of agricultural safety and community service with an even broader audience.
Through the Ag in the Classroom Mini Grant Program, the ND FFA Foundation and the North Dakota Department of Agriculture continue to support projects that strengthen connections between students and agriculture. Whether it’s through hands-on learning, community service, or promoting farm safety, projects like this help students better understand the people and industries that keep North Dakota agriculture thriving.
