Richard Debertin is no stranger to the FFA. An alumnus of the Parshall FFA Chapter, he went on to teach agricultural education and serve as the FFA advisor for 31 years in Berthold. Since retiring from his duties as an advisor in June of 1998, Richard has continued his involvement in the North Dakota FFA and is a familiar face at many events including the winter and spring conferences in Minot where he often judges the Agricultural Sales CDE.
Like many who have been, and continue to be involved in the ND FFA, sponsorship and financial support for the organization are important to Richard and have been for many years. While we are fortunate to have many incredible supporters donating to the FFA, the manner in which Richard gives is what makes his donations unique.
For the past several years, Richard has been generously donating each month through an automatic, recurring PayPal transaction; a method that he was the first to utilize. Richard explained that setting up his recurring pledge was as simple as, “Selecting the option to make the payment monthly.” As a long-time ag. ed. advocate and FFA supporter, the use of an automatic deposit has made his continued support easier than ever.
When asked what prompted his pledge, he explained, “In my life and teaching I’ve seen all the good that comes from the FFA, and I got to the point in life where I could give back a little to ensure more young people have those same opportunities.”
