Monthly Foundation Update: August 2019

The ND FFA Foundation will be distributing Ag. In the Classroom Grants!  The deadline for applications is October 1, 2019.  The online application can be found here.

Tommy attended Kansas State drone presentation at Total Ag Industries in Hillsboro, ND.  A discussion of different opportunities for drones in agriculture was followed by a demonstration of this technology.  The versatility of drones’ use in agriculture spans from detecting/eliminating weeds in a cornfield, to checking on grazing livestock miles from home.

Tommy attended North Dakota’s State of Technology event.  The event featured many prominent entrepreneurs in ND who are driving technological advancements and innovations.  Senator Hoeven discussed the importance of North Dakota continuing to lead the way in agriculture and technology developments.  Joseph Van Valen from the White House Office of Science and Technology gave a talk on autonomous transportation and drones.  The event had a great turnout of around 300 people and was filled with very exciting content about technological advancements happening right here in ND.

The annual PDC/NDAAE meetings took place August 5-8th in Bismarck.  Many Ag advisors from across the state came to attend the conference.  Multiple Star Partners also attended the conference, including the annual picnic on August 5th.  Tommy gave a personal introduction/FFA Foundation update on August 6th to the Ag Educators.

An ND FFA Foundation Board meeting took place August 13th in Bismarck.

Two board positions will be open at our next board meeting, November 14th.  The two positions open: 1. Ag instructor member; 2. Donor/industry member.  If you are interested in either of these positions, please email Tommy.
