Richie Heinrich –
Diversified Crop Production Placement Proficiency Winner
Diverse is a word that describes not only the crops that Richie Heinrich
raises, but also his interests, skills, and abilities.
This Medina FFA member is involved in all aspects of raising wheat,
barley, oats, soybeans, corn, and alfalfa on his family’s farm.
The Valedictorian of his class, Richie recognized that knowledge and
experience are the keys to a successful career in agriculture, and he has worked
to ensure that he has plenty of both. Richie
will be a sophomore at NDSU majoring in crop and weed sciences.
Through his classes he has learned much that can be used at home on the
farm. Richie also works at Monsanto,
processing sunflower and canola seed, which further increases his knowledge
base. He hopes to someday use all of
this information in a career in agriculture.
But one can be sure that Richie’s life will not be one-dimensional.
While in high school, Richie found time to be involved in sports, music,
academic competitions, the volunteer fire squad, and many FFA activities.
He is equally busy at college, a trend that is sure to continue
throughout his lifetime.
The Diversified Crop Production Placement proficiency
awards are sponsored by Steve and Cynthia Strege.
