Mitchell Becker-
Agricultural Education Placement Proficiency Award Winner Mitchell started out as a PALS (Partners in Active Learning
Support) mentor presenting topics on agriculture to elementary students. In his
8th grade year he became a presenter for the 8th grade tours, and that same year
he was promoted to main presenter. This
past year he became the PALS coordinator, and was trusted as an FFA Quiz Coach
where he coached the team for district leadership and has participated in almost
every Career Development Event possible. Mitchell was also a part of the Nursery
Landscape CDE team that placed in the top twelve at the National FFA Convention
last year. Mitchell’s personal goal was to graduate from high school
with a 4.0; his educational goal is to attend North Dakota State University and
become an agriculture education teacher/ He
then would like to take the knowledge from this SAE and give it back to the
students who are enrolled in FFA or in an agriculture class when he becomes a
teacher. Mitchell has become involved in professional associations such as the
North Dakota Angus Association and the National Junior Angus Association.
He also has many awards for FFA leadership activities. Mitchell’s goals include becoming an agriculture
education teacher and to learn every thing there is to know about contests
offered in the FFA. He plans to take
a variety of agriculture education classes to develop knowledge about all
aspects of the agricultural industry and to work on his speaking, motivation,
and leadership skills. Mitchell
hopes to serve as an inspiration to others and help them achieve their goals. The Agricultural Education Placement Proficiency awards are
sponsored by the ND Association of Ag Educators. By: Melissa Mitchell |
