Kali
Greyer Wins State Floriculture Placement Proficiency Award
Kali Greyer, a 19 year old
from the Minot FFA Chapter, is presently working at the
Lowes
Garden
Center
as a florist. Her general manager, Mr. Phil Lowe said, “Kali is an excellent
employee; she has great creativity and color sense in floral arranging.”
He added, “Kali is a highly recommended employee and has done a superior
job.”
Kali first started out her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE)
program when she joined the
Minot
floral team. Her team competed in the Floriculture Career Development Event at
the State FFA Convention and won. Kali’s first objective when joining the team
was to go to nationals and compete. Kali said, “It is a great feeling to
compete against other kids’ skills.”
Other goals were to get a
job were she could practice her skills, and next to graduate from college and
open her own floral shop.
While working at Lowe’s
Garden
Center
in
Minot
, Kali has been entrusted with more hours as well as more responsibilities. Some
of these include being able to do more floral arranging and also to close the
store by herself. The biggest responsibility to Kali is to uphold the Lowe’s
name.
Kali is currently taking
college courses at
MSU-Bottineau
College
that will allow her to make her dreams come true. Her future goals are to
graduate from college, own a house, and start her business with her partner and
watch it succeed.
The Floriculture
Proficiency awards are sponsored by the Wahpeton FFA Alumni Association.
