Jessie
Hendrickson-Ag Communications Placement Proficiency Winner by
Melissa Mitchell Jessie
Hendrickson from the Richland 44 FFA Chapter became involved with the FFA in
2000, and served as a chapter officer for five years. During those years,
he gained experience in communications through various forms such as speeches,
printed material, correspondence, and public awareness. As the 2006-2007 North
Dakota State FFA Secretary, Jessie has been involved in public and chapter
awareness statewide. When Jessie began as
chapter reporter, he set goals to ensure he would do his best work. These
goals included writing an article in every school paper to make the rest of the
school more knowledgeable about FFA activities and events. Another goal
was to serve as a chapter medium for more chapter involvement. He was able to
meet and exceed these goals through his involvement and hard work. "As you can see Jessie
is a very rounded person," his chapter advisor Tony Boehm said.
"I can honestly say we have never had an FFA officer more dedicated to his
FFA office and more successful at achieving his individual goals."
Mr. Boehm also mentioned that Jessie has produced two gold reporter books at the
state level. Even after high school, Jessie continues to take every
opportunity he can get to speak about agriculture and FFA. Jessie's future goals are
currently undecided as he is not sure which path he would like to follow.
"I am taking a break from school until I finish my term as state secretary.
I feel I will be able to choose then." Jessie said. "I have
strongly considered a career in agriculture, and I also know that the resources
I have gained from this SAE will allow me to be successful in the rest of my
life." The Ag Communications
proficiency awards are sponsored by Dakota Plains Cooperative in |
