Klosterman – Diversified Crop
Production Entrepreneurship
Chad Klosterman of the Wahpeton FFA
chapter is well on his way to becoming a successful fourth generation farmer.
He began his enterprise as a freshman, renting 80 acres and raising corn. He
has increased his acreage to 643 acres and diversified to include soybeans in
his rotation.
Chad
is very progressive in his farming practices and incorporates as much
technology as he can. The use of soil maps and GPS has allowed him to cut
fertilizer and chemical costs while increasing yields. His hard work
earned him the Star Chapter Farmer award last year.
Chad
loves the challenges and benefits that come with life on the farm, and plans to
spend many years keeping Klosterman Farms successful.
The Diversified Crop Production Entrepreneurship award is sponsored by the
Dakota Growers Pasta Company.
