On the Road Again Kendra Truetken of She began by riding along with her father and other crew members at a young age until she eventually was able to run the tractor and grain cart by herself. She then expanded her skills to complete another goal of hers, driving the combine. The crew she was with took the opportunity to run two experimental combines which helped her develop a better understanding of today's machinery. The harvesting crew she works for harvests around 30,000 acres in the summer
for several different customers. Kendra's favorite part is traveling all
over the Trevor Steeke, her FFA advisor, said, “When their crew is in the area, Kendra will go along with the agricultural education classes and explain what each different piece of machinery is and what it does. She has a great deal of responsibility on this crew.” This summer job gives Kendra plenty of time to be involved with extracurricular activities during the school year: she has been involved with basketball, chorus, dance, FBLA, FFA, band, track, volleyball, and the science fair. In the future Kendra plans to earn a degree in accounting at BSC. She also hopes to live and work on a farm.
