Star in Agribusiness Finalists Winner

Kristen Ripplinger, McClusky

            Kristen owns and operates her own business from her home in McClusky. “A Daisy A Day” got its start because of success Kristen had exhibiting grain sheaves and floral designs at the North Dakota State Fair. She then realized the opportunity to start her own business as the nearest florist to her home town was 47 miles away, and they were charging a $25 delivery fee. She offers a variety of fresh, silk or mixed floral pieces and her business is continuing to grow. She is presently serving as McClusky Chapter vice president and was the state winner of the Agri-Entrepreneurship Award in 2008. Her parents are Dean and Kim Ripplinger and her FFA Advisor is Mr. Michael Axt.

Star in Ag. Placement Winner

 Danelle Hoff, Hebron

            Danelle is the daughter of Jeff and Merry Hoff. She currently works for three agricultural businesses including two dairies; Hoff Dairy and Beaver Creek Ranch. She also works for Red Trail Energy, an ethanol plant located in Richardton , ND . Danelle has competed in the National Range Management CDE held in Oklahoma and was the North Dakota representative in the National FFA Dairy Handlers CDE at the 2008 National FFA Convention. She has served as the Hebron FFA Chapter vice president for the past two years and her FFA Advisor is Mr. Riston Zielke.

Star Farmer Winner

 Cole Vculek, Oakes/Sargent Central

            Cole Vculek has established a Supervised Agriculture Experience program that allowed him to gain the experience to get a good start in crop production. Beginning with three acres of red onions in 2005, Cole has moved to seed potatoes and now soybean production that fits well into his crop rotation goals. In 2008, Cole was names the National Proficiency Award Winner in the Vegetable Production area. He has served as chapter reporter, sentinel and president. His parents are Brian and Julie Vculek and his FFA Advisor is Mr. Dan Spellerberg.

Star Agriscience Winner

 Erin Gaugler, Grant County

            Growing up in southwest North Dakota , Erin ’s been raised in a family who believes that livestock production and wildlife management are equally important. Erin professes to be a hunter, conservationist, scientist and also a rancher’s daughter. Her Agriscience project including; “What’s in your Water – Phase III” & “The investigation of Possible Natural Antibiotics in Soils”, have garnered her many awards at the state, regional and national level. She has been a participant, exhibitor, presenter and award recipient at various environmental, conservation, wildlife and science event across the state and nation including exhibiting five consecutive years Agriscience Fair. Her experiences at the 2008 ND Governors School paired her with a plant breeding specialist and graduate student, and her work contributed to the development of special wheat cultivars that would be resistant to wheat stem sawfly. Erin served as Grant County FFA Chapter reporter and parliamentarian. Her parents are Harold and Natalie Gaugler and her FFA Advisor is Mr. Pete Hetle.

At the 2009 ND FFA State Convention, "Step Up Stand Out," held in Fargo , June 1-5, sixteen candidates interviewed for the seven leadership roles in the ND FFA for the coming year.  Individuals elected to North Dakota State FFA office will travel across the state throughout the year presenting speeches, workshops, camps, conferences, and conducting business for the ND FFA.  Those selected to serve the ND FFA for 2009-2010 are:
