NAPOLEON FFA CHAPTER WINS STATE PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE EVENT

Bismarck, ND –  A slow smile spread across the faces of the Napoleon FFA Chapter as they were announced as the winners of the State Parliamentary Procedure Competition in Bismarck recently.  The  Napoleon FFA Chapter is no stranger to this competition.

Amber Piatz, the chapter president, talked about the early morning practices and studying that goes into this competition.  She offered this advice, “Those who wish to succeed will put in the extra time and effort and make sacrifices to rise to the top.  That is what every member of our team did.”

The ND FFA Association hosted the State FFA Parliamentary Procedure competition in Bismarck at the state capitol Wednesday where teams got the opportunity to show how much they knew about Robert’s Rules of Order.  Once the teams were evaluated, awards were handed out, and the top four teams (Wishek, Napoleon, Max and Bottineau) competed for the winning place and a trip to the National FFA Convention where they compete with the top teams from each state.

This is a very competitive Career Development Event; many FFA chapters have been practicing diligently since school started with the knowledge that only two teams from each of the eight districts compete at the state competition, and then only one of these sixteen teams has the honor of competing on a national scale.

Gold Award teams were from Wishek, Napoleon, Max, Bottineau, Kenmare and Beulah.  Silver awards went to the teams from Fessenden/Bowdon, Kindred, Maddock, New Salem , Turtle Lake/Mercer, and Wyndmere.  Bronze awards went to Bowman, Finley/Sharon, Killdeer, and Watford City .

The purpose of the parliamentary procedure event is to encourage the effective use of the official FFA opening and closing ceremonies and to provide recognition to the chapters excelling in the proper use of parliamentary procedure in conducting chapter meetings.

The FFA Association would like to thank the Pizza Corner in Valley City , the ND Department of Agriculture, and First International Bank and Trust for sponsoring this event.
