Alliance Pipeline’s “FFA is Here to Learn and Serve” Grant Program Bottineau FFA is
awarded $500. The Bottineau FFA
members plan to make livestock exhibit panels for the Bottineau County Fair.
The panels are needed because the junior show has grown so much over the
past few years. Thirty students will
do most of the work. Carrington FFA is
awarded $500. The Carrington FFA
Chapter is working with the Carrington Chamber of Commerce and the Rodeo
Committee to build bleachers for the Foster County Fairgounds and rodeo arena.
This will provide permanent seating for the community activities that are
held throughout the year including the Foster County Fair, the Bull-O-Rama, and
youth rodeos. Nineteen students will
design, construct and paint the bleachers and chamber members will help with the
design and moving of the bleachers. Finley/Sharon FFA is
awarded $500. The Finley/Sharon
FFA chapter will replace rotted landscaping timbers and new dirt that borders
several of the flower beds in Finley and in Sharon.
Eighteen students in cooperation with the Finley Park Board, the Finley
City Library Board, the Sharon Senior Citizens, the Finley-Sharon school
administration, the Finley City Maintenance Dept.,
and Heggies Auto employees will work with the students. Garrison FFA is
awarded $500. The Garrison ag
students will build picnic tables for the high school football field and will
also design and build a display for the Dickens Play Committee.
Sixteen students will build the picnic tables and displays.
Granville FFA is
awarded $500. Students from the
Ag Mechanics Technology Class will assemble picnic tables for the school and for
the community. Other students will
be involved and painting the tables. Some
of the tables will be used in the outdoor learning center at the back of the
school. Benches may be placed near
the entrances of the schools for students, waiting for rides home or to school
functions. The tables and benches
may also be used for the Granville All School Reunion this summer. Kindred FFA is
awarded $500. The Kindred FFA
Chapter will conduct an Adult Farm Safety, training for farm workers and
emergency response crews, landscape projects within the community, snowmobile
safety workshop for 6th graders, ATV safety workshop for junior high
students and a toy and food drive over the holiday season.
This is called the Kindred FFA Service Blitz.
The goal is to have 75 students involved in the blitz along with members
of the Kindred FFA Alumni, Kindred City Council, Kindred Ambulance and Fire
Dept., Kindred Park Board, and ND Parks and Recreation.
Lakota FFA is
awarded $500. The Lakota FFA
Chapter will hold an FFA Soiree on New Year’s Eve that will offer community
members and students a drug and alcohol free party.
It will be open to everyone and will be free.
The Lakota Community Foundation and the Enbridge Pipeline will help fund
this party. The whole chapter will
be involved and expect 250 community members to attend the event. Lidgerwood FFA is
awarded $500. Students with
carve and decorate pumpkins with patrons of the retirement home in Lidgerwood.
They will also build planting boxes and fill them with flowers to place
along Main Street. Thirty-seven
students will be involved. Maddock A.S. Gibbens
FFA is awarded $500. The FFA
members will replace fences on the Maddock baseball field.
The present fences are more than 40 years old and have many broken
sections which make it hazardous for the baseball players and baseball fans who
attend the games. The members will
work with the Maddock Park Board, the Maddock School, and the city of Maddock in
improving the city and school baseball field. New Salem FFA is
awarded $500. Twelve FFA members
will work with the Morton County Fair Board to build a new set of bleachers for
the Morton County Fair Grounds. Oakes/Sargent
Central FFA is awarded $450. The
Oakes/Sargent Central chapter will be planting new trees around the SRCTC Oakes
Campus. They will host a Fall
Cleanup/Planting day, offering community members to help plant the trees. Parshall FFA is
awarded $500. Parshall FFA and
Parshall Agriculture Education students will build benches for the Parshall
Centennial coming up in 2014. The
centennial logo will be engraved in the back of the benches and they will be
painted by students. The benches
will be place around the community of Parshall and will improve the looks of the
city as well as providing places to sit. Powers Lake FFA is
awarded $500. The Powers Lake
FFA has joined forces with the Summer Recreation Board to improve the ball
diamonds. They will assist in
renovating the backstops, take the old bleachers down, remove garbage and plan
to build a new concessions/storage building and help improve the dugouts.
Richland 44 FFA is
awarded $500. The Richland 44
FFA is hosting the Richland AgriScience Career Day to promote agricultural
careers and the integration of science. The
event will take place on January 13 in Colfax at the school.
The fair is open to all students from Richland 44 and also open to FFA
members in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota high schools.
Students will compete for awards in the agricultural science fair and
poster display competitions. Rugby FFA is awarded
$500. The Rugby FFA will build a
variety of wood projects for teachers of Rugby High School, a Minot flood
victim, and the city of Rugby. Projects
will include a shelving unit, ticket booth, bookshelves, podium, and an
organizer. Scranton FFA is
awarded $400. The Scranton FFA
members will work with the Scranton
Golf Course to help make field markers for each hole. South Heart FFA is
awarded $450. The South Heart
FFA members will be constructing several carnival games which will be used at
the Cowboy Christmas in Medora, ND. Approximately
150 children attend the Cowboy Christmas in Medora and it will give them
something fun to do. These games
could also be used at Halloween parties, church dinners, harvest festivals, etc. Wyndmere FFA is
awarded $500. The Wyndmere FFA
will host Santa Days as they have for several years.
It is a winter carnival that is put on for the surrounding community
youth of the area. Kids or all ages
are welcome to come and play games and win small prizes.
There are also sleigh rides and pictures with Santa. |
