ND FFA Foundation Board Meeting

ND State Fair Grounds Minot, ND

 

Present: Thomas Williams, Bruce Bachmeier, Beth Bakke Stenehjem, Steve Zimmerman, Dennis Walsh, Missy Hanson, Aaron Anderson, Andi Hammel, Kim Murphy, Bill Ongstad, Joel Janke, Lenny Teske, Mike Axt, Jeff Topp, Christine Wanner, Levi Hall, Darrin Spelhaug, Lane Moellenkamp, Wendi Stachler, Tim Aichele, Amanda Huettl and the 2010-2011 ND State FFA Officers.

 Meeting was called to order by President Thomas Williams. 17 Members present.

 It was moved by Bruce Bachmeier and seconded by Missy Hanson to accept sponsors and FFA officers as voting members.

 The Secretary’s Report was presented by Bruce. Lenny Teske moved to accept the Secretary’s report, seconded by Missy Hanson. Motion Passed.

 The Treasurer’s report was presented by Beth. Steve Zimmernan moved to accept the Treasurer’s report, seconded by Aaron Anderson. Motion Passed.  

Committee Reports

NDSU Update: Bill Ongstad spoke on letters sent to NDSU officials to encourage them to put Ag. Ed. program back in agriculture and to promote Ag. Ed. as a degree.

 ND FFA Alumni: Lenny Teske spoke, saying that the alumni made $9200.00 on the past raffle. They also sponsored $300.00 towards the Maddock Officer Retreat.

 State Convention: Steve Zimmerman spoke, saying 1256 kids were at the convention. One of the highlights was the election of the FFA officer team.

 National Convention: Steve Zimmerman spoke the convention will be held Oct. 20-23. ND will be staying at the Radisson Airport which has good shuttle access.

 State Fair: Steve Zimmerman reported that the exhibit numbers are up. There was a real big increase in horticulture.

 Auction: Haugland Auction Service reported that $14322.50 was raised from the auction.

 Old Business

 Business/Industry Board Member: Bruce Bachmeier moved to add an additional business/industry board member, seconded by Dennis Walsh. Motion Passed.

 Sponsorship of events: Beth spoke that the sponsors needed for State Fair, CDE’s, and other events are on the foundation’s website.

 Star Program: CHS is a 3 star sponsor and Monsanto is a 1 star sponsor.

 New Business

Special Projects: Beth spoke that Tamara Maddock was working on a parents guide for FFA members, and that the foundation will receive $4500 for the Ag Ed Inservice.

 CTSO:  Joel Janke updated the board on the different contacts that the foundation takes care of.

 Election of Board :  Bruce Bachmeier nominated Jeff Topp and John Jacobson as a new industry members, seconded by Dennis Walsh. Motion Passed.  Dennis Walsh nominated Bruce Bachmeier for the alumni member, Lenny Teske seconded. Motion passed. Nominations for a new ag teacher member. Missy Hanson nominated Amanda Huettl, seconded by Bruce Bachmeier; Lenny Teske nominated Tim Aichele, seconded by Lane Moellenkamp. A roll call vote was held with Amanda receiving 11 votes and Tim received 7 votes.

 Election of Officers:  

President - Missy Hanson nominated Dennis Walsh, seconded by Bruce Bachmeier. Missy Hanson moved that Nominations cease and that we cast unanimous ballot for Dennis Walsh, seconded by Kim Murphy. Motion Passed.

Vice President- Dennis Walsh nominated Missy Hanson, seconded by Bruce Bachmeier. Motion passed.

Secretary- Missy Hanson nominated Bruce Bachmeier seconded by Lenny Teske. Motion passed.

Treasurer- Steve Zimmerman was elected.

Future Meeting

 

The next meeting will be at 10:00 AM on Oct. 7, 2010 in Carrington at the Cheitain conference center.

 Aaron Anderson moved to adjourn , seconded by Lenny Teske. Motion passed.
